Totally great advice -- most of it really does depend on you. Also, where you go plays a big role in the need to go through an organization. I had to do all of the paperwork myself for Paris, but I went through an organized program to go to Ghana because I'm not sure I could have managed that on my own. Anyway, I love that you focused on how many variables there are -- people dispense study abroad advice? like any of it is ever going to be universally applicable, which is silly.

totally right, uni's in the uk are entirely based on independent learning, and they kind of prepare you for? it in college (after high school 16-18 yr olds), dont i know it :P

@awings718 We? dont have high school, we have secondary school which starts year 7 (grade 7/ age 11) and then goes on to year 11. After that, you have sixth form, ( years 12-13, ages 16-18) and then you go to uni. I'm not speaking for everyone, some people have middle schools, but not many. And I'm not talking for the whole UK, I'm English and I think in scotland it's different.

But im sure in college theres obviously less of all the annoying little assignments you have to do than in? high school, but still more than foreign colleges. i wonder if that means high schools and stuff in the uk also have comparatively little small assignments and prepare their students more for that focus on self-motivation.

Interesting to hear life like this from a different? uni - i.e. not Oxbridge/anywhere with 8-week terms. Goes to show that there's a huge amount of variation, exactly as you say, within the same system.
